About Us

Who are we?

We are a group of neighbors on and near Haywood Street who are working hard at building more community connection in our area. We’ve recently become officially recognized by the City of Raleigh and are meeting each month to come up with activities to benefit the neighborhood and opportunities to come out and meet our neighbors.

What are we doing?

We’re working together to build connections and community in our beloved neighborhood. For us, that boils down to something simple: Helping bring people together and create positive, lasting change.

Here’s how we’re trying to do that so far:

  • Neighborhood cleanups: The last Saturday of each month, we’re meeting at 515 Haywood for a street cleanup. Bring your own supplies or use what we provide! This is a great chance to do some good for the street while getting to know your neighbors. Stick around afterwards for an informal get together — sweet treats often available! Learn more about these here.
  • Food distribution: No one deserves to be hungry, yet food insecurity is a real and present danger around us. We’re trying to address this by collecting food donations and distributing them to those in need. We do that by helping out at neighborhood food drives, as well as through our own little neighborhood pantry. Learn more about that here.
  • Community events: Who doesn’t love a good party? On occasion, we like to get the neighborhood together so that we can all eat good food, listen to music, and get to know one another some more. Our Spring Clean is our end-of-March community yard sale event, while our Haywood Hustle & Hoedown is our big end of summer party.

What’s next?

We’re just getting started! We’re meeting and talking all the time to come up with new ways to engage the community, whether that’s a mural, a community garden, a clothing swap, upcoming holiday events, or anything else we can come up with. So stay tuned for more information, events, and opportunities to participate.

We also send out regular communications via our newsletter so that you can stay informed of what is happening around here and in the wider neighborhood. Sign up using the form in our menu. There’s lots going on and we want you to know about it!

How can I get involved?

The easiest way for now is to come to one of our neighborhood cleanups! They take place on the last Saturday of each month, from about 9am to 10am. We meet at 515 Haywood.

Alternatively, if you’d like to attend one of our regular meetings, just reach out to us and we’ll be in touch!

Thanks! Can’t wait to see you on the street!
